Mulled Wine Recipe

Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 2 x 75cl bottles of medium to full bodied red wine
  • 1 orange stuck with cloves (about 2cm apart)
  • 2 sliced oranges
  • 2 sliced lemons
  • 6 level tablespoons of granulated honey or sugar
  • 2 level teaspoons of finely grated fresh or ground ginger
  • 5cm cinnammon stick
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons fruit liqueur (such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier or cherry brandy)

Method

Put all of the ingredients in a saucepan with 1.5 iltres of water and heat until simmering, stirring until all of the sugar is dissolved. Keep it barely simmering (but not boiling) for at least 20 minutes. Remove the oranges and lemons and strain it into a container.

Once made, it can be reheated as required.
